Taiwan, a young island which is home to 400 million-year-old ancient plants, boasts 87% of the world’s fern families. Among the 39 fern families in the world, 34 families and 650 species can be found in the island alone, which earns Taiwan the title of “Kingdom of Ferns”.
Taiwan serves as a perfect habitat for ferns that are commonly seen everywhere and nurtures a diversity of ferns.
Native to tropical rain forests, staghorn ferns bear basal and fertile fronds, one of which even looks very much like deer or elk antlers. How adorable!
